Hi,
I have just brought the advanced version and I can not seem to get the PMDG B737 to capture the glide slope on long final.
The FMA is as follows after I have pressed the brakes for 3 seconds, before engaging autopilot.
MCP SPD HDG SEL ALT HOLD
After engaging autopilot.
MCP SPD FAC ALT HOLD
G/P (in white)
I do not get VOR/LOC displayed.
Other things I have noticed is on the position page VFR is in a green box above the airport box even thought the airport has an IFR. When I select a airport the MSFS weather engine also shows this as well.
I have tried recycling the flight directors.
If I try from a fix once the aircraft is setup and asks you to take control the AT disengages and you can not engage it, and the aircraft starts to nosedive and bank. If you recycle the FD's you can engage AT but it still nosedives and banks. This is all before you take control.
I have also tried the FBW A320 and on long final I can not get the auto pilot to engage, although I am not familiar with this aircraft.
Can you help please as I can not use this at the moment.
Thank you.
Gary
Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Hi Gary,
If you arm approach and you get FAC and G/P, ILS will not capture.
The reason is that the ILS frequency is not tuned properly.
Did you update FSiPanel database using Navigraph FMS Datamanager?
https://youtu.be/qksg9uWgplw
Which airport / runway did you try? What was the frequency and course set by FSiPanel?
VFR, MVFR, etc is the actual weather condition at the airport, it does not mean that the airport is not qualified for instrument approach.
Regards,
J-P

Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Hi J-P,
Thank you for your quick response. In answer to your questions.
I do not have a navigraph account so I am using the cycle that comes with the program (17 Jun 21 - 15 Jul 21).
I have tried at the following airports:
NZCH RW20 110.30 196
EGGP RW09 111.75 086
EGLL RW09R 109.50 089
KSFO RW28R 111.70 284
Kind regards,
Gary

Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Hi J-P,
I have followed your video and I have noticed once the aircraft is setup I do not get the VOR/LOC (no magenta diamonds) although everything is set correctly. If I follow the second part of your video I only get the magenta diamonds after I press the APPR mode but it then goes into FAC/GS. I have attached pictures of what I get before and after taking control.
Kind regards,
Gary

Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
How far away were you from the runway when you took the 'before' screenshot? IHW is an ILS with DME, so it's odd that you don't get a DME indication on the PFD nor any vertical/horizontal ILS indicators...
Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Hi,
As Woodstock said, the localizer signal is probably not received as you might be too far.
You will receive LOC first and GS will come at around 16 NM on MSFS.
what distance were you from the runway?
Regards,
J-P

Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Then at 8NM final, the LOC and GS shall be visible and showing information on your PFD.
Can you try to position yourself at the threshold of the runway without FSiPanel, then tune the ILS frequency, do you see LOC and GS information on the PFD?

J-P

Re: Unable To Capture Glide Slope.
Hi J-P,
I have run this without FSi panel and I got the following landing at Gatwick.
On the first run FMA reported FAC and G/P and I followed the GP down to the runway even though the course setting was 1°out.
On the second run FMA reported FAC and G/P and the magenta diamonds followed the GP but I was high.
Pictures attached.
